The picnic areas at Cape Nelson State Park set in quiet bush surroundings are an ideal location for a pleasant meal with family and friends. A range of linked tracks offer the opportunity to walk as little or as much as desired, allowing you to explore the spectacular coastal cliffs, diverse bird life and picturesque surrounds of the park. The Portland Powerhouse Motor and Car Museum features veteran, vintage and classic cars, motorcycles, a Penny Farthing bicycle, stationary engines, signs, models, a 1920s Cable Tram and Grip car, tractors and general motoring memorabilia. There are also interactive displays for the children including a moving steam engine, and two sectioned, push button operated motors, a Holden 6 cylinder grey motor and a Mazda rotary. Group bookings are most welcome.

You can visit the Mount Piper Power Station Energy Expo every day of the year, except Christmas Day, between 9am and 4pm, with tours running daily at 11am. Here you'll be able to enjoy exhibits, models, displays, photographic and printed information, videos and touch screens and gain an understanding of the way NSW electricity is produced and distributed. While the tour mainly focuses on coal-fired thermal power stations, like EnergyAustralia's Mt Piper and Wallerawang Power Stations you'll also get to explore information on developments in renewable energy sources. Entry and tours are completely free, and the power station includes picnic facilities, a children's playground and electric barbecues to make for a great day out for the whole family. Guests are often taken aback by the beautiful garden that is Timandra by the Sea. This sustainable, award winning garden is loved by adults and children alike. It is a natural garden and a haven for many different birds and koalas. Having won the 2014 Landscaping Victoria 'The Sustainable Landscape' award, the garden is a showcase of the wonders of working with nature in all of its forms. Entry to the garden is via an honour system, which works really well for patrons. Bring a picnic hamper with a rug and enjoy the large one acre garden in peace. In summer, the garden can be up to five degrees cooler than elsewhere, such is the powerful, cooling effects of the multitude of magnificent trees within it. There is a detailed information sheet in the fire-engine red information box for you to read and a feedback form. More information is available on the website detailing available packages if you would like to consider coming with a group. The owners are often working in the garden, especially on weekends. Feel free to stop and have a chat if you want. They hope that you enjoy the serenity of this space - it is a remarkable place.

Come and explore Victoria's birthplace by the sea onboard Portland Cable Trams. Travel along Portland's historic foreshore and enjoy the breathtaking views of the bay in our fully restored saloon and grip cars. Running seven days a week from 10am to 3pm, our iconic tram stops at the WW2 Lookout Museum, Portland Botanic Gardens, Portland Information Centre, Powerhouse Museum and Tram Depot. The Portland Cable Tram Depot is more than just a tram stop. Housing a museum of historic local artefacts, featuring a local gemstone display, local model railway club display and gift shop. Enjoy a coffee while watching a short film documenting our local history.
