Narrabri\\'s old gaol is part of an impressive complex of colonial government buildings which also includes the office of the court of petty sessions and the court house. The architect for this complex, James Barnet, also designed the Sydney General Post Office. The gaol opened in September 1882 and operated as such for exactly 100 years. It now provides an interesting insight to how things were in the past. The museum is housed in The Old Narrabri Gaol which is listed on the National Estate Register and classified by the National Trust. Exhibits are mounted in the cells, exercise yards and outbuildings. They consist mainly of historical items associated with life in the town of Narrabri and surrounding district.

CSIRO's Australia Telescope Compact Array is a world leading instrument for radio astronomy and deep views into the universe. Just 25 kilometres west of Narrabri on the Yarrie Lake Road (which is fully sealed) , in rural New South Wales, the array consists of six 22 metre dish antennas, weighing 270 tonnes each, located on a six kilometre road and railway track to simulate one very large antenna.! Open seven days a week, admission is free. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the antennas and wander through indoor and outdoor astronomy exhibits. A theatrette features free films on space and astronomy. Visits by the general public are always welcome.

Set on picturesque lawns overlooking Narrabri Creek, Crossing Theatre is designed to cater for residents and visitors alike. This 1000 seat auditorium regularly stages large scale conferences, promotions, and concerts, while latest release movies are screened Wednesday to Sunday in the twin cinemas. In the past, the Crossing Theatre has played host to huge headline acts including Jimmy Barnes and his son David Campbell, INXS and Suzi Quatro. The Crossing Theatre has had numerous Australian play productions and it can also host conferences ranging from 10 people to 1,500 people. Crossing Theatre also has a cafe on site. The Crossing Theatre is also the setting for the annual Nosh on the Namoi, an annual food and wine festival. The Crossing Theatre was completed in November 2002 and named after its location on Narrabri Creek - the original crossing for settlers in the area.

The Narrabri Craft Shop is operated by the Narrabri Art and Craft Society. The building was built in 1887 and is one of Narrabri's earliest buildings. Today it houses a wide range of exquisite hand made crafts. Interesting and sometimes unusual monthly exhibitions are a feature of the gallery. Also on display are the workshop kilns and needlework displays. Don't miss this opportunity to pick up a unique gift from Narrabri. The craft shop is located on the Newell Highway (Dangar Street) next to the Caltex Woolworths service station.
