The battle of Eureka is a highly contested historical event that has provoked debate and discussion for more than 150 years.
The youthful colony’s struggle for democracy exploded with the 1854 gold miners' uprising. The heroic stand by young people from many countries was a flashpoint on the path to a new nation.
Eureka has grown to symbolise change.
M.A.D.E will now harness the energy and emotion behind the Eureka story to inspire ways in which individuals can act to improve their world. It will challenge and question, and provoke debate about our future.
The original Eureka Flag – fragile yet powerful – will be displayed in its own darkened gallery, a silent witness to the making of Australian democracy.

The Buninyong Springs Vineyard on the Sinclair of Scotsburn Estate, is nestled on the slopes of Mount Buninyong, with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, vineyard and lake.
Originally part of a larger holding subdivided in 1990 the total area of the property including the leasehold is 42 and a half acres.
The vineyard is located on the eastern slopes of Mount Buninyong at an elevation of 550 metres. The soils in the vineyard are of volcanic origin with silty clayey loams and some sandstone rocks. The climate is characterised by cold winters and warm to hot summers with average rainfall of 700 millimetres per annum.
Buninyong Springs Vineyard was established in 1997 with three acres of Chardonnay and two acres of Pinot Noir being planted, a total of over 4500 vines. The vineyard is watered by drip irrigation with the water pumped from a dam on Back Creek, which flows from the North-Eastern slopes of Mount Buninyong.
The vines are caned pruned and trellised to maximise the fruits exposure to sunlight. Cropping levels are maintained below two tonnes or acres to ensure high quality, cool climate fruit. Bird netting is used to protect the crop and ensure that it can be picked when the sugar level and flavour characteristics have reached optimum levels. The fruit is hand picked usually in April or early May.
Built in 2004, Sinclair of Scotsburn now has accommodation options; the Cottage is a well appointed, self contained miners cottage providing accommodation for up to 8 guests.
