Welcome to Booderee National Park. This is a significant place for Koori people. Booderee means bay of plenty or plenty of fish in one of our languages, the Dhurga language. Booderee is owned by the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community and we are proud to share our culture and country with you.

Jerry is teacher trained and also a Lifeguard Supervisor holding the high level Gold, Silver and Bronze medallions, Advanced Resuscitation, Senior First Aid, Defibrillation and Spinal Management certificates making your experiences all the more safe. All our instructors are accredited, licensed and insured.

Pebbles and Pods - art and craft items celebrating the natural environment of Jervis Bay in all its little details. Delicate, petite watercolour paintings of local bird species, native plant details, shells, feathers and pebbles, reflect a love of nature, and encourage observation of the beautiful natural world around us. Alongside are crafted items like hand-cut paper cards and artworks, bird-themed mobiles, and sun-catchers, elegant and handmade. Pebbles and Pods is the project of Graphic Designer/Illustrator Lisa Friebel who lives in the Shoalhaven with her partner - an environmentalist and keen bird-watcher, and her two children. Her goal is to create relevant, reasonably priced, locally-made gifts that celebrates the true beauty and delicate nature of the environment and allows you to bring it indoors, to the city, or wherever you go. NSW Jervis Bay National Park lies on 4,854 hectares. Sections of the park fringe Jervis Bay, St George Basin and ocean beaches. The area is rich in Aboriginal heritage, including important wetlands and preserves a flourishing diversity of plants and animals. The park lies next to the Commonwealth-managed Jervis Bay National Park which is now called Booderee National Park. The forests, bays and beaches are great for swimming, bushwalking, birdwatching or enjoying the tranquillity. Greenfield Beach has visitor facilities including wheelchair access to the beach. From here you can follow the information signs on the White Sands Walk along the coast to Hyams Beach and return by the Scribbly Gum Track. On the northern side of the bay, Hammerhead Point and Red Point have picnic areas. Camping is not permitted in the park.

Where possible all food is sourced locally and produced in house. Fresh local fish, smoked bacon, seasonal fruit and vegetables are from the surrounding area and even the Alison's own garden. Sauces, marinades, jams, specialty breads, cakes, biscuits and pastry are made on the premises. Hyams Beach is one of the most popular of the myriad bays and beaches inside the Jervis Bay area. Facing east and looking directly at Point Perpendicular, Hyams rarely receives any swell other than a gentle shore break in a north-easter, making it a safe family beach. But, like all beaches in the bay, it is unpatrolled. At the north end of the wide two kilometre shoreline is a rock platform with its own sandy beach - and a top snorkelling spot.

Booderee Botanic Gardens are owned by the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community and are the only Aboriginal owned botanic gardens in Australia. The gardens showcase local Aboriginal (Koori) use of plants and the coastal flora of south-eastern Australia. Visitors can learn about bush tucker and medicinal uses of plants, the long association that Koori people have had with the area and the plants of south eastern Australia. There are a range of facilities and services available to help visitors appreciate and explore the gardens, including formed paths, self-guided and guided walks, interpretive displays and picnic areas. The gardens, as part of Booderee National Park, are jointly managed between the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community council and the Australian Government's Director of National Parks. The gardens received National Heritage status in 1994. Entrance to the gardens is free but subject to Booderee National Park entry fees (see web site for details).

Jervis Bay Marine Park is home to seals, penguins, seabirds, dolphins, and many other animals. Migrating whales drop by during their annual journey along the coast. Scuba diving, swimming, surfing, and fishing are popular activities at the marine park, however there are areas in which recreational activities like fishing and spear fishing are prohibited. There are various walking trails available in the surrounding Jervis Bay National Park.

Green Patch is a beautiful picnic area within Booderee National Park, with interesting bushwalks, wildflowers in spring, and safe swimming in clear blue water. Many native birds and kangaroos can be seen in the early morning and late afternoon. Green Patch also offers a sheltered beach with beautiful white sand, toilets, showers, wood barbecues and picnic tables. Telegraph Creek Nature Trail is a circular walk with signs describing interesting aspects of the vegetation along the way. The trail begins at the northern end of the Green Patch car park or where it is signposted along Jervis Bay Road near the Green Patch turn-off. The walk is 2.4 kilometres long and takes roughly one hour to complete. Grade is easy. Booderee is owned by the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community. The Munyunga Waraga Dhugan loop walk is located in beautiful Booderee National Park. Booderee is owned by the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community and is a very significant place for Koori people. The Munyunga Waraga Dhugan loop walk welcomes Booderee's visitors to the country of the Wreck Bay Aboriginal people. 'Munyunga Waraga Dhugan' means 'white bellied Sea Eagles home camp' in the Aboriginal Dhurga language. Please care for the land and waters, as this is a very special place. The walk is a self-guided tour of the park's natural and cultural heritage and history. Featuring eight places which were named by the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community and spectacular panoramic views, it is close to pristine Murrays Beach. Munyunga Waraga Dhugan starts at Murrays Beach carpark. It is a distance of 5.4 kilometres or 2.5 hours. Moderate grade. Entrance to the walk is free but subject to Booderee National Park entry fees.

The Sussex Inlet 62nd Annual Family Fishing Carnival is a fishing competition in which all the family can participate, with over AUD25,000 in valuable prizes including cash to be won. The emphasis is on children enjoying the joys of fishing in a family atmosphere. Competitors can fish from the river bank, a boat, inside the basin or out in the ocean or off the rocks. This event is the longest running event of its type in Australia. A presentation night is held on the night after the competition finishes on the Thursday night.
