The Springwood Aquatic and Fitness Centre has an indoor 25 metre swimming pool, a leisure pool and a children's pool with a whirlpool and water slide that operates daily at set times. Blue Mountains residents and visitors are fortunate to have five high standard swim and leisure centres spread throughout the Blue Mountains including Glenbrook, Lawson, Katoomba and Blackheath Pool. All of the pools have school holiday fun programs with large inflatable obstacle course at all the centres plus a waterslide operating at certain times at Springwood Aquatic and Fitness Centre. Entering the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area at Glenbrook the first Discovery Trail you will encounter is the Glenbrook Discovery Trail exploring the sandstone 'Blue Labyrinth' beyond Glenbrook Creek gorge. Plan your visit at the Blue Mountains Visitor Information Centre at Glenbrook where local staff can help and advise on local road conditions, especially after heavy or prolonged rain. The park entry fee gives access to a road system connecting several picnic areas, lookouts over the Nepean river gorge, a camping area, swimming holes, an Aboriginal art site and bush walking tracks. Highlights include Euroka - a delightful picnic area and campground, Glenbrook Creek, Tunnel View, Red Hands Cave, Mount Portal and Nepean Lookouts. Starting and ending in Glenbrook village, the trail is 47 kilometres return, takes about three hours and involves narrow sealed and unsealed roads plus stops. National Park entry fees apply.

Commissioned to build a road across the Blue Mountains, magistrate William Cox, with 30 convicts, started on 18 July 1814 at Emu Ford, completing the road to Bathurst on 14 January 1815 - a staggering 101.5 miles through rugged mountainous country in just six months. Today you can trace the path of the original Coxs Road which varies little from the current alignment of the Great Western Highway. Explore the interpretive trail at key sites where you can discover stories of the road construction through notes from Cox's journal, learn of Aboriginal heritage and find paintings and drawings on this remarkable journey. Penrith Whitewater is located only an hour from Sydney at the foot of the world famous Blue Mountains. Purpose built for the canoe/kayak events during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games; it's the only man-made whitewater river of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The channel has been designed to recreate the characteristics of a wild river and provides the watercourse for whitewater rafting and kayaking. Guided and self-guided trips are offered. Both are 90-minutes in duration. Guided rafting is an action packed introduction to whitewater rafting. Adventure level is moderate to high.
