Wollumbin-Mount Warning National Park

Mount Warning Road, Murwillumbah NSW 2484
This park protects the mountain summit of Wollumbin-Mount Warning, an iconic landmark of the Northern Rivers region. The mountain is the remnant central vent of an ancient volcano, and has a dual name. Captain Cook named it Mount Warning, but to the Aboriginal community it is known as Wollumbin. Wollumbin National Park includes the former Mount Warning National Park (both parks were combined in August 2009). Wollumbin is a sacred place of great significance to the people of the Bundjalung Nation. It is the first place on Australia mainland to be touched by the morning sun. A climb to the summit to watch the dawn of a new day is a must for the adventurous. Under Bundjalung law, only certain people can climb Wollumbin, so consider choosing to respect their heritage. The track is a steep nine kilometre return trip, with a challenging rock scramble at the end.

Activities permitted on Clarrie Hall Dam include canoeing, boating (electric motor, sail or paddle power only) and fishing. The dam is stocked with Australian Bass and an annual fishing competition is organised and run by the Australian Bass Association. Clarrie Hall Dam also supports several significant bird species, including the vulnerable comb-crested jacana (Irediparra gallinacea) and the endangered black-necked stork (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus). The recreation area is perfect for photography, bird watching, nature observation, environmental studies, picnicking and bush walking.

The Sauce Studio is the latest venture for artist, Sauce, who has spent the past twenty years developing his mural and graffiti art skills. The studio will operate as a retail and visual art studio which will be managed by Communications and Arts Development Manager, Ainslie Rose. Sauce has enjoyed creating projects with a wide range of clients which has allowed him to travel all over Australia doing the one thing he loves the most; painting walls. There is plenty of art on the walls, but it's not a gallery.
Duranbah Beach Logo and Images

Duranbah Beach

Duranbah Beach, Flagstaff Beach Road, Duranbah NSW 2487
"Dee-bah", as it's known locally, is the most northerly beach in NSW; walk a few metres up onto the headland here on a summer's day and you'll find yourself in Queensland and in a different time-zone. Less than 200 metres in length, Duranbah is somewhat unheralded, particularly in comparison with Snapper Rocks around the corner, home break of Aussie surfing world champions Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson. As this beach faces due east, it's exposed to swell from pretty much anywhere so on days when it's flat on both sides of the border there's often a wave here. The Tweed River break-wall at the south end shapes a nice right hander, popular with body boarders. Tweed Heads has accommodation, restaurants, clubs and casinos aplenty, and the town is serviced by Coolangatta Regional Airport.

Hastings Point Beach

Coast Road, Hastings Point NSW 2489
Hastings Point is the smallest coastal settlement of New South Wales Tweed Shire; the "Jewel of the Tweed", surrounded by national park, the hamlet is nestled between the ocean on its east and a beautiful but delicate estuary on its west. It is the entrance for the now nationally recognised "Green Cauldron" and is identified without doubt as one of the unique seaside locations in Australia. With an unspoiled beach, visitors come here to appreciate nature at her finest, while the local residents help protect, clean and nurture the environment, acting as stewards for future generations. Put simply, there is nothing like it. For as long as one can remember, seasonal campers have been attracted to the natural beauty of Hastings Point, returning often. With a safe creek feeding onto the beach, Hastings Point has provided a wonderful playground for local families for years.
