Bunna Bunoo Olive Grove

237 Fishers Hill Road, Vacy NSW 2421

Proudly owned and run by the Iacono family, Bunna Bunoo olive grove produces the Hunter Valley's finest olive oil. Located on the Paterson River in the beautiful upper Hunter Valley region, the hot summers and cool crisp winters create ideal conditions for cultivating olives. Treat yourself and visit Bunna Bunoo to learn how olives get from the tree to your table. Personal tours available to all visitors (bus groups) and will take you around the grove and their purpose-built olive processing. Then visit the grove shop for tastings and to view local artisan art and crafts. To complement their range of oils, both natural and infused, Bunna Bunoo produce table olives cured using traditional Italian methods. Black, White and Caramelised Balsamic Vinegars are available plus a delicious array of sweets, chutneys and marmalades produced from the groves' orchard. Morning and afternoon tea available.

Vacy Bridge over Paterson River

128 Main Road, Vacy NSW 2421
Completed in 1898, the Vacy Bridge is an early example of an Allan type timber truss road bridge and in 1998 was in good condition. As a timber truss road bridge, it has many associational links with important historical events, trends, and people, including the expansion of the road network and economic activity throughout NSW, and Percy Allan, the designer of this type of truss. Allan trusses were third in the five-stage design evolution of NSW timber truss bridges, and were a major improvement over the McDonald trusses which preceded them. Allan trusses were 20 per cent cheaper to build than McDonald trusses, could carry 50 per cent more load, and were easier to maintain. The Vacy Bridge is located in the Hunter region, and it gains heritage significance from its proximity to the high concentration of other historic bridges in the area.
