Travel along the Burley Griffin Way through the village of Binalong and find yourself at the newly renovated Black Swan Gallery, This is a slice of history you can't go past. Now a working gallery with a range of exhibitions, you can enjoy sweet and gourmet snacks, local wines and devonshire teas. At 166 years old The Black Swan has a number of unique features. Built of pisé (rammed earth) and hand hewn hard woods, there are some non standard relationships between doors and walls, ceilings and floors! The gallery includes one large room and two smaller rooms lending itself to group exhibitions or retrospectives.

Located in the village of Binalong, Peter is a third generation glass blower. Unique products such as glasses, teapots, flowers, and necklaces can be admired and purchased. Private lessons and workshops can also be arranged. Peter says he considers himself lucky to be the third generation in a family of glass blowers, and having followed a path of scientific glassblowing through to functional and artwork, to have worked with some of the best as an equal. Today he have a studio in Binalong, a small village 95 kilometres north-west of Canberra. Here he continues his work and teaches glass to those who want to experience the magic of his everyday world.

Situated on the outskirts of Binalong in country New South Wales is a historic grave site you can visit of a notorious bushranger, Johnny Gilbert. There is an area to stop and park, along Burley Griffin Way at the foot of the hill, where you walk to the top to view the grave. Hailing from Canada in 1852 and after several jobs, Johnny Gilbert joined forces with Frank Gardiner. Many years later Johnny was shot at a "showdown" on John Kelly's property at Binalong. Johnny was shot by Constable John Bright. At the time of death he was Australia's worst criminal being a part of over 630 hold ups.

Kuriong Sheep Station is a wonderful tourist attraction for coach or group bookings and is only one kilometre from the Binalong village. They are a fourth generation working property in rural New South Wales, and their aim is to share everyday life on the farm with rural and non-rural people interested in learning about agriculture in Australia today. This property has recently been taken over by fourth generation farmer, Max, and his wife Zoe. Together they run Merino sheep and, more recently, Murray Grey cattle. Come down to the wool shed and watch some shearing, wool handling, drenching, branding, whip cracking and yard dog demonstrations. If you are feeling energetic, climb to the top of hill "Kileys", of the Banjo Patterson poem.

Whilst travelling the roads of the Yass Valley, you are bound to reach Binalong with its many attractions. On a hot day it is good to know there is a pool here too - great for the whole family. Staffed with life guards fully trained by Royal Lifesavers, a kiosk, grassed areas with plenty of shade, and right on the main street. Binalong Memorial Swimming Pool was built by the citizens of Binalong and District in honoured memory of those who died and appreciation of all who served from 1914 to 1918 and 1939 to 1945. Binalong Motor Museum

The Binalong Motor Museum is Australia's only purpose built motor museum and restoration workshop, built in 1992. It is located in the historic village of Binalong, which is 37 kilometres from Yass. Most of the cars on display are in working order, and the collection changes regularly. The restoration workshop is an integral part of the museum display, and visitors can closely inspect rare cars such as Bugattis and Delarges being restored. Enjoy the shady garden area with barbecue and picnic facilities. There is a car park, public toilets and access with assistance for the disabled. Guided tours and school groups are welcome, all visitors currently by appointment so please phone ahead.

Binalong is 475 metres above sea level and on the edge of the Southern Tablelands. Here you will discover an 18 hole sand green course, PAR 68, ACR 64, 5,191 metres. There are also many historic buildings in the township, dating back to 1847. Binalong Golf Club has its own bowling green, clubhouse, cafe and licensed bar. You couldn't go past this enjoyable village, so stop and have a social game of golf with friends or family.
