Blue Gum Farm

659 Euroa-Strahbogie Road, Euroa VIC 3666

From the original purchase of l40 acres 25 years ago, Blue Gum Farm has gradually grown to its current acreage of 800. From Sheans Creek Road to the foot of the Strathbogie Ranges, the post and rail is unmistakably thoroughbred. With the benefit of two generations of experience, Blue Gum Farm entered a new phase in 2005. The formation of a syndicate to buy into one of, if not the leading racehorse of the moment, Elvstroem, was a well thought out and decisive move in the farm’s future. Impeccably bred with a race record to match, Elvstroem has unlimited potential as a sire. In the spring of 2005 Elvstroem joined proven sires Rubiton and Umatilla as well as the exciting pair of King Charlemagne and Statue Of Liberty, on the Blue Gum Farm roster. From 166 mares covered in his first season Elvstroem got 147 of those in-foal and through the quality of the mares booked to him he has given himself every chance to succeed as a stallion.

Kirkland Avenue, Euroa VIC 3666
Euroa is the only town in the entire Commonwealth to have been home to three Victoria Cross (VC Recipients). Euroa is the kind of town that proudly wears its military history on its sleeve. People talk about it down the beautiful tree lined streets, and now thanks to an amazing community initiative spanning over five years of fundraising, you can now read about it for yourself. Three bronze statues, immortalising the bravery of Victoria Cross recipients, Fred Tubb, Alex Burton and Leslie Maygar stand in pride of place - overlooking the beautiful and scenic Seven Creeks in Euroa. You will also find storyboards telling the remarkable tales of these three brave souls. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Euroa community, Tubb, Burton and Maygar will forever be remembered by future generations.

Polly McQuinns

Galls Gap Road, Euroa VIC 3666
Picturesque Polly McQuinns is located on the Seven Creeks. It is four kilometres south-east of Strathbogie and comprises a reservoir, weir, bridge and a pleasant area around the water. Once a natural creek and large deep-water pool, the creek has been dammed on the northern side of the road, creating another large waterbody. The dam is a three sided concrete weir (1920-30). The water spills over the concrete weir wall, under the road bridge, over large exposed granite boulders and across a natural spillway into a deep-water pool. It is a popular picnic and swimming spot.
